Website. http://www.elmhurstdance.co.uk. Elmhurst Ballet School is an independent school for professional classical ballet in the United Kingdom. It takes students aged 11–19 years who intend to pursue a career in professional classical ballet.
Our History. Founded in Camberley, Surrey in 1923, Elmhurst was one of the UK’s first vocational dance schools. In 2004, the school moved to its purpose-built new home in Edgbaston, Birmingham forming a close association with Birmingham Royal Ballet, formerly Sadler’s Wells Royal Ballet.

Key moments in Elmhurst Ballet School’s 100-year history: Founded in 1923 by Helen Mortimer, Elmhurst started life as The Mortimer School of Dancing in a studio in the grounds of a Preparatory School – for pupils up to age 11 – at ‘Elmhurst’, Heathcote Road, Camberley, Surrey.
Our People. We are proud to be a world class centre of excellence for the training and education of classical ballet dancers where graduating students are prepared to secure contracts with national and international ballet companies.
