Present peer. Mark William Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 4th Earl of Swinton (born 15 September 1970), is the son of the 3rd Earl and his wife Elizabeth Susan Whitelaw, eldest daughter of William Whitelaw, 1st Viscount Whitelaw. He was styled as Lord Masham between 2006 and 2021.
The younger grandson of the first Earl, he became Earl of Swinton on the death of his older brother, the 2nd Earl, on 26 March 2006. Their father, Major Hon. John Yarburgh Cunliffe-Lister, the son and heir of Philip Cunliffe-Lister, 1st Earl of Swinton , had been killed in action in 1943.

Philip Cunliffe-Lister, First Earl of Swinton, left all his papers to Churchill College. The first instalment was collected from Swinton Castle in November 1972 (SWIN I). Another 19 boxes were discovered and transferred to the College in August 1974 (SWIN II).
