Mosul (en árabe: الموصل , al-Mawsil) es una ciudad del norte de Irak, ubicada junto al río Tigris. Con unos 1,4 millones de habitantes, Mosul es la cuarta ciudad más poblada del país.
Mosul is approximately 400 km (250 mi) north of Baghdad on the Tigris river. The Mosul metropolitan area has grown from the old city on the western side to encompass substantial areas on both the "Left Bank" (east side) and the "Right Bank" (west side), as locals call the two riverbanks.
Mosul District ( Arabic: قضاء الموصل) is a district in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq. Its administrative center is the city of Mosul. Other settlements include Al-Qayyarah, Al-Shurah, Hamam al-Alil, Al-Mahlaah, and Hamidat.
