Christ Church, formally titled "The Dean and Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Christ in Oxford of the Foundation of King Henry the Eighth", is the only academic institution in the world which is also a cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of Oxford.
Christ Church Cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in Oxford and one of the smallest cathedrals in the Church of England. For almost 900 years this church has stood here as a place of worship and prayer.
Christ Church Cathedral is one of the smallest cathedrals in the Church of England. The nave, choir, main tower and transepts are late Norman. There are architectural features ranging from Norman to the Perpendicular style and a large rose window of the ten-part (i.e., botanical) type.
