Gulu Real Art Studio. This fascinating new photobook reprints scraps from an African portrait studio which reveal only the posture and clothing of the subjects — their faces have been cut out for ID photos. However, what remains is rich with detail and implications about contemporary life in Eastern Africa.
The Walther Collection is pleased to present Gulu Real Art Studio, an installation of studio por-traits collected by the photographer Martina Bacigalupo from the Gulu Real Art Studio in Gulu, Uganda. The exhibition will be on view at The Walther Collection Project Space in New York from September 20, 2013 to February 8, 2014.
