The University of Auckland (UoA; Māori: Waipapa Taumata Rau) is a public research university based in Auckland, New Zealand. The institution was established in 1883 as a constituent college of the University of New Zealand. Originally it was housed in a disused courthouse.
The University of Auckland is ranked within the top 100 of the QS World University Rankings, making it New Zealand’s highest ranked university. It is also the largest and most comprehensive. The University’s student population includes 7,000 international students representing over 120 countries.
The University of Auckland is New Zealand’s leading tertiary institution and largest university. It spans six campuses, has the largest university library complex in New Zealand and is the only New Zealand university that has both Engineering and Medical and Health Science faculties.
