The Astor Place station, also called Astor Place–Cooper Union on signs, is a local station on the IRT Lexington Avenue Line of the New York City Subway.Located at Fourth Avenue, Cooper Square, and Astor Place between the East Village and NoHo, it is served by 6 trains at all times, <6> trains during weekdays in the peak direction, and 4 trains during late night hours.

14 de jun. de 2023 · Subways & Trains. ENTRANCE KIOSK, ASTOR PLACE. June 14, 2023. ENTRANCE and exit kiosks were constructed by the IRT, or Interborough Rapid Transit (today’s numbered subway lines) for its original 28 stations from City Hall north to 145th Street along Elm (now Lafayette Street) 4th/Park Avenue South, 42nd Street and Broadway.
Throughout 2013, 2014, and 2015, the Committee to Save Cooper Union (CSCU) — a coalition of former and current students, alumni and faculty — campaigned to reverse this decision, urging the president and the board of trustees to return Cooper Union to "its tuition-free and merit-based mission, ensure the school’s fiscal recovery, and establish better governance structures."
25 de may. de 2008 · Black and white pillar signs read Astor Place on one pillar, then Cooper Union on the next. The station underwent renovation in 1986. In addition to the famous glazed ceramic beaver plaques, new porcelain street artwork was installed. There is a reproduction of an IRT entry kiosk on the street level over the northbound entrance.

16 de ene. de 2006 · All original subway stations sported these entrance kiosks (and a differently designed exit kiosks) but at length, they came to be pedestrian and traffic impediments, and all were gone by 1960. A reconstructed one can be found at Astor Place (see below). from collection of Ed Levine.
6 de jul. de 2022 · The entrances are in the original portion of the station. The uptown platforms single entrance consist of a replica ornate iron and glass kiosk at the triangle formed by the end of the Bowery at Lafayette Street and Astor Place.
