The Pogues were an English or Anglo-Irish Celtic punk band fronted by Shane MacGowan and others, founded in King's Cross, London, in 1982, as Pogue Mahone—an anglicisation by James Joyce of the Irish phrase póg mo thóin, meaning "kiss my arse".

1 de dic. de 2023 · MacGowan, un punk irlandés fanático de The Clash, formó The Pogues en 1982, sin lugar a dudas una de las bandas más innovadoras e influyentes dentro del género del punk celta y la música folk-rock. El nombre Pogues proviene del término irlandés «pogue mahone» que significa «bésame el trasero».
