The Battle of Dunkirk (French: Bataille de Dunkerque) was fought around the French port of Dunkirk (Dunkerque) during the Second World War, between the Allies and Nazi Germany.

La batalla de Dunkerque fue una operación militar ocurrida en Dunkerque , Francia, durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial que enfrentó a los Aliados y a la Alemania nazi. El choque fue parte de la batalla de Francia del frente occidental.
- El milagro de Dunkerque. Así se bautizó la denominada Operación Dinamo, durante la cual más de trescientas mil tropas francesas, británicas, belgas y canadienses escaparon de la invasión alemana desde las playas cercanas a Dunkerque, entre el 29 de mayo y el 4 de junio de 1940.
- Destino Dover. Se establecieron tres rutas para la evacuación de Dunkerque. La más corta, la ruta Z (72 km), contaba con el peligro de estar muy expuesta al bombardeo de las baterías costeras alemanas.
- El peligro de las minas. La ruta X era algo más larga, 102 km. Aunque evitaba la costa y por tanto los ataques de artillería, afrontaba el peligro de las minas submarinas.
- Cuatro horas de exposición. La tercera ruta (la Y, con 161 km) era con diferencia la más larga. Sus mayores peligros eran los buques enemigos, los submarinos y la Luftwaffe.
