Revelation Space is a 2000 science fiction novel by Welsh author Alastair Reynolds. It was the first novel (but not first published work of fiction) set in Reynolds's eponymous universe. The novel reflects Reynolds's professional background: he has a PhD in astronomy and worked for many years for the European Space Agency. [1]

Revelation Space was originally scheduled for 2001, but was eventually brought forward to 2000. 1999, during which I struggled to complete edits on RS and deliver Chasm City, was an extremely tough year.
The Revelation Space universe currently encompasses six novels and a cluster of short stories, of which all but “Monkey Suit”, “Night Passage” and “The Last Log of the Lachrimosa” are collected in the books Galactic North and Diamond Dogs and Turquoise Days.
