  6. 5 de mar. de 2020 · During the V.O.C period, Batavia remained the bastide of the Dutch East Indies with a strong mission for supremacy in spices trade. The mission of V.O.C was to control the access to resources: commodities and laborers, not for territorial acquisition. Practically speaking, dominating trade was impossible without territorial control.
