Reinhold was the most influential astronomer in Protestant Germany. Through his fellow professor Rheticus Reinhold in Wittenberg had a very early opportunity to acquaint himself with the heliocentric system of Copernicus. Immediately upon its appearance, Reinhold worked his way attentively through Copernicus's De revolutionibus orbium coelestium.
