Historia. El nombre de Güstrow proviene del polabo Guščerov y significa "lugar del lagarto". [4] En 1219 el castillo wendo Güstrowe fue edificado en el lugar donde hoy se sitúa el palacio renacentista. Se dice que Güstrow fue fundada por Enrique Borwin II, un nieto de Enrique el León, entre 1219 y 1226.

History [ edit] Güstrow Castle. A first short-lived predecessor existed after the death of Henry IV, Duke of Mecklenburg in 1477 and the subsequent partition of his lands among his sons in 1480. Albert VI received the estates of the former Lordship of Werle around Güstrow.
