Herlufsholm School (Danish: Herlufsholm Skole og Gods) is a private day and boarding school by the River Suså in Næstved, about 80 kilometers (50 mi) south of Copenhagen. Herlufsholm was founded in 1565 as a boarding school for "sons of noble and other honest men" on the site of a former Benedictine monastery from the 12th century.
Herlufsholm Pinet (Pinetum) er en forst botanisk have for fyrre- og nåletræer beliggende ved Herlufsholm skole i Rådmandshaven. Den blev anlagt i 1890-1920 og har over 100 forskellige sorter fra store dele af verden. I dag er deromkring 60-65 forskellige sorter tilbage.
Herlufsholm bei Næstved ist ein 1565 als private Lateinschule gegründetes Internat und heute eine der ältesten bestehenden Schulen in Dänemark.

More than 450 years as a school. The oldest building at the school is “Klosterbygningen” (the monastic building), the foundation of which goes back to the 1100s when a group of Benedictine monks settled there and erected Skovkloster (The monastery in the woods).
Herlufsholm was founded as a boarding school in 1565 by naval hero Herluf Trolle and his wife Birgitte Gøye. Today the school is also used as a day school.
Herluf Trolle, the son of Joachim Arvidsen and Kirsten Herlufsdatter Skave, was born on January 14, 1516 at Lillø in Skåne. He was educated at Vor Frue Skole in Copenhagen and in Wittenberg, where he studied from 1536-1537.
