Joseph Leo Mankiewicz (Wilkes-Barre, Pensilvania, 11 de febrero de 1909-Bedford, Nueva York, 5 de febrero de 1993) fue un director de cine, guionista y productor estadounidense.
Mankiewicz had a commercial and critical success with Fury (1936), the first American film directed by Fritz Lang. Mankiewicz produced a series of films starring Crawford: The Gorgeous Hussy (1936), Love on the Run (1936), The Bride Wore Red (1937), and Mannequin (1937).
Mankiewicz directed 20 films in a 26-year period, successfully attempted every kind of movie from Shakespeare adaptation to western, from urban sociological drama to musical, from epic film with thousands of extras to a two-character picture.
