Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily (6 June 1772 – 13 April 1807) was the first Empress of Austria and last Holy Roman Empress as the spouse of Francis II. She was born a Princess of Naples as the eldest daughter of King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies and Queen Maria Carolina.
25 de ene. de 2022 · Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily was born on 6 June 1772 as the eldest daughter of King Ferdinand IV & III of Naples and Sicily (later King Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies) and Maria Carolina of Austria. She went on to have 17 siblings, but only six of those would survive to adulthood. Most of her siblings succumbed to smallpox.
Her granddaughter Maria Theresa of Naples and Sicily became Holy Roman Empress as well in 1792. The Imperial and Royal Navy ship SMS Kaiserin und Königin Maria Theresia was laid down in 1891. The Military Order of Maria Theresa was founded by her in 1757 and remained in existence until after World War I.

Her place was taken by the next eldest daughter, Maria Karolina (1752–1814), who as controversial queen of Naples and Sicily would prove to be a true daughter of Maria Theresa. She was even more prolific than her mother, giving birth to a total of eighteen children.
