Dutch language literature (Dutch: Nederlandstalige literatuur) comprises all writings of literary merit written through the ages in the Dutch language, a language which currently has around 23 million native speakers.

My secondary school days are quite a bit behind me now :-) but there are several books which belong to classic Dutch literature, and as such were read during my secondary school days. We had to read five books originally published before 1800.
