Christ Church Meadow, in Oxford, is open to the public all year round. This open space in the heart of the city is an ideal choice for wandering, picnicking, or going on a date. The lower sections of the meadow are grazed by cattle, and the upper sections have sports fields.
All of Christ Church’s gardens and Christ Church Meadow lie within the Grade I landscape included in the English Heritage Register of Historic Parks and Gardens of special historic interest in England.
The Meadow Building is in the Venetian Gothic style, popularised in the Victorian period through the writings of one Christ Church alumnus, John Ruskin. But the building was designed by an Irish architect, TN Deane, well known in Dublin for his work on the National Museum and Library.
