The Badger Army Ammunition Plant (BAAP or Badger) or Badger Ordnance Works (B.O.W.) is an excess, non- BRAC, United States Army facility located near Sauk City, Wisconsin. It manufactured nitrocellulose -based propellants during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War.

  5. BAAP. When operating, Badger Army Ammunition Plant (AAP) was located on 7,275.24 acres of land in Sauk County, Wisconsin. The installation was bordered to the north by Devil's Lake State Park; to the east by farmland, State Highway 78 and the Wisconsin River; to the south by farmland; and to the west by U.S. Highway 12.

  7. The plant was to be situated close to the Wisconsin River on the east and southeast for its water supply. It is bounded on the north by a range of hills known as the Baraboo Bluffs. The mean elevation of Badger is 870-900 feet above sea level. The geographical characteristics were appropriate for the requirements of an ammunition plant.
