  1. Catherine was the daughter of Thomas Pegge of Yeldersley, Ashbourne, Derbyshire, and his wife, Catherine Kniveton, daughter of Sir Gilbert Kniveton, Baronet, and wife. Thomas and his family were exiled to Bruges during the English Civil War following his capture serving under the Royalist Colonel General Henry Hastings, 1st Baron Loughborough .

  2. Catherine remained in the Spanish Netherlands with her family for some time, with her son Charles being educated in Flanders at the expense of Catherine’s father. At some point she returned to England and, in 1667, she married Sir Edward Green. However, it is unclear if she returned to England before or after her marriage.

  4. Catherine FitzCharles. Unfortunately for us, Catherine’s life is a bit of a mystery, and both possibilities of what became of her lead us to dead ends, without any records. The first possibility is that she died in early infancy in Flanders where she was born, which may be likely given that there are no records about her after her birth.
