Gwynedd ([ˈɡwɪnɛð]) is a county in the north-west of Wales. It borders Anglesey across the Menai Strait to the north, Conwy , Denbighshire , and Powys to the east, Ceredigion over the Dyfi estuary to the south, and the Irish Sea to the west.
Gwynedd, county of northwestern Wales, extending from the Irish Sea in the west to the mountains of Snowdonia in the east. It encompasses most of the historic counties of Caernarvonshire and Merioneth. Caernarfon is its administrative centre. Caernarfon Castle was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1986.
