With two boys [Jude, 13, and Oscar, 16] you don’t get a lot of rest. Both have school in the morning. Oscar is a boarder and Jude a day boy, so I take him to school [near their home in Berkshire]. If I’m doing intermittent fastingI won’t eat until after 12pm.

Back home and it’s dog walks. We have three: Betsy, an old rescue British bulldog from Battersea Dogs Home. Then we’ve got French bulldog Bertie, who is not a rescue, but thinks he’s the most important thing in the house; and Frank, a cocker spaniel and Battersea stray. I’m a Battersea Ambassador. Then I feed the tortoise, Theo, who I got from my g...

I drive into London in my electric carand will catch up with people en route. It can take me two hours to get in but I would rather do that than get the train. I’m the most impatient person in the world, but if I leave early, I know I’ll be OK.

I’ll park in Chinatown and grab some noodles and vegetables. I’ll speak to my producer and pre-record anything we need to do outside of the live three hours [Gallacher is on Smooth Radio on Saturdays from 1pm to 4pm].

I’m in the chair for my show. I absolutely love it. Since I left Sky Sports I also tried my hand at GB News and that didn’t work out because I’ve got this small benign tumour in my right ear. I didn’t enjoy the hours with what I was dealing with in terms of my health. I have a low buzzing tinnitus now, which is constant. It came to light two years ...

I get in the car and zoom home. Usually while I’m at work my mum and dad [Lesley and former professional golfer Bernard] help with the dogs and collect the boys from school or their dad [former rugby player Paul Sampson] will do the pick-up. The boys are massively into sport. Jude wants to be a footballer or a cricketer. Oscar is at a sporty school...

I get home and it’s madness. Kids everywhere, dogs, washing, the dump down of stuff from Oscar’s school week. But I love living in the countryside. I can breathe again.

We might get a takeaway, sometimes a Papa Johns pizza for the boys. I’ll make a bolognese or chilli, something relatively easy. I like a glass of red wine when cooking.

I might watch sport on TV. We don’t all sit and watch TV together but we spend a lot of time together, eating, going on walks. I read a lot. I’m currently reading Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth, a Medici history book and Roxie Nafousi’s Manifest. Sometimes I’ll go out to meet girlfriends, but it’s never really a big night as it’s an early Sunday-morni...

I’m a good sleeper in general, but I sometimes wake up in the night because where we live the owls are really loud. But I’m living my dream. I’ve always wanted to live in proper countryside. Sometimes I wake up as there’s one that sits on the tree outside. I have the window a little bit ajar in my bathroom and I can hear it. But it’s actually reall...
