In the sequel, Doc Brown and Marty save Marty’s future son from disaster but return to a dystopian Hill Valley and an alternate version of Back to the Future 's timeline.
Marty McFly is the Back to the Future protagonist. Born in Hill Valley, California, he is a part of the McFly family of Irish descent. Little is known about the character's life before the first Back to the Future film, except that he set fire to the living room rug when he was 8 years old (in a statement of Marty's to his future parents). Horrified by Doc's death, Marty inadvertently drew the terrorists' attention towards himself by yelling at them and was nearly gunned down. Fortunately, the terrorists' gun jammed, giving Marty enough time to run into the DeLorean and try to escape.
