The coat of arms of the University of Chicago was assumed by resolution of the university's board of trustees on August 15, 1910. The blazon was devised by Pierre de Chaignon la Rose, working under the direction of university architect Charles Coolidge.

The anniversary logo provides a visual commemoration of the University of Chicago’s 125 years at celebrations and events across our campuses. The logo utilizes Gotham, the University’s main display typeface. Gotham’s modern lines bring a contemporary vitality to the anniversary logo.
The University’s Brand Identity Guidelines provide guidance on branding as well as proper usage of the University’s logos, colors, fonts, editorial, video, and photography. These guidelines allow units substantial design flexibility while preserving key institutional brand identity elements and consistent visual association with the University.
