Arthur Robert Ashe, Jr. (Richmond, 10 de julio de 1943-Nueva York, 6 de febrero de 1993) fue un tenista estadounidense, número 2 del mundo y ganador de tres títulos de Grand Slam. Fue el único jugador afroamericano en haber ganado los campeonatos de Wimbledon, el Abierto de Estados Unidos y el Abierto de Australia en individuales.
Arthur Robert Ashe Jr. (July 10, 1943 – February 6, 1993) was an American professional tennis player. He won three Grand Slam titles in singles and two in doubles. Ashe was the first black player selected to the United States Davis Cup team, and the only black man ever to win the singles titles at Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open.

On February 6, 1993 Arthur Ashe died of AIDS-related pneumonia in New York at the age of 49. His body was laid in state at the Governor’s Mansion in his hometown of Richmond, VA. He was the first person to lie in state at the mansion since the Confederate general Stonewall Jackson in 1863.
