The Sächsische Porzellan-Manufaktur Dresden GmbH (Saxon Porcelain Manufactory in Dresden Ltd), generally known in English as Dresden Porcelain (though that may also mean the much older and better-known Meissen porcelain), was a German company for the production of decorative and luxury porcelain.
In 1710, he founded the first European porcelain manufactory in Meissen and made this exotic material into its unique calling card. Of the many thousands of pieces that he amassed, the most stunning and rare are to be found in the Zwinger in Dresden today. Discover the Exhibition.

The earliest pieces in the Dresden collection had been presented to the Saxon court as a gift from the Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinando I de’ Medici (1549–1609), who sent at least 14 porcelain objects to Christian I of Saxony (1560–1591) in 1590.
The Zwinger ( German: Dresdner Zwinger, IPA: [ˈdʁeːzdnɐ ˈt͡svɪŋɐ]) is a palatial complex with gardens in Dresden, Germany. Designed by architect Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann, it is one of the most important buildings of the Baroque period in Germany. Along with the Frauenkirche, the Zwinger is the most famous architectural monument of Dresden.
