Scholarships are awarded to highly-performing students and include a comprehensive seminar programme to help enhance the candidates' social competences and academic skills. Individual support by an on-site liaison lecturer is another benefit of the sponsorship.

The Scholarship Programme of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung. The promotion of young talent has been one of the founding principles of the FES. The first scholarships were awarded to particularly talented young individuals from a working class milieu who were taking an active part in the young democracy of the Weimar Republic.
Programme Description. International students from all subjects (except the medical disciplines) who have been admitted to a doctoral programme at a German higher education institution are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

With the foundation of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in 1925, the first scholarships were awarded to particularly talented young individuals from a working class "milieu" who were taking an active part in the young democracy of the Weimar Republic.
The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung was founded in 1925 with the goal to support poor German students from a blue-collar background to study at German universities, as they could not afford tuition fees on their own. Therefore, supporting talented and socially-committed young people continues to be part of FES's mission.
