Lisa Valerie Kudrow (/ ˈ k uː d r oʊ / KOO-droh; born July 30, 1963) is an American actress. She rose to international fame for her role as Phoebe Buffay in the American television sitcom Friends, which aired from 1994 to 2004.

Lisa was raised in Tarzana and played varsity-level tennis in high school and college, and is a pool shark who has mastered some of the more difficult trick shots (so beware). She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychobiology.

As she told the Archive of American Television, she spent her early years acting for her family and taking drama classes. In fact, after coming home from nursery school, Kudrow would come home and perform audiobooks that they had played for the kids at school.
