Marisa Tomei (/ t oʊ ˈ m eɪ / toh-MAY, Italian:; born December 4, 1964) is an American actress. She gained prominence for her comedic performance in My Cousin Vinny (1992), which earned her the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress .
Marisa has a brother, actor Adam Tomei. As a child, Marisa's mother frequently corrected her speech as to eliminate her heavy Brooklyn accent. As a teen, Marisa attended Edward R. Murrow High School and graduated in the class of 1982.

While chatting with The Guardian in 2017, Tomei marveled at the fact that 25 years had elapsed between when she filmed the movie and the interview, and then shed a little light on how she got the role.
