I agree. This sub is referencing Pikmin 1-3’s game design and not Pikmin 4’s game design when talking about Ice Pikmin and Oatchi. In reality, none of us know how the game is going to play or how maps and puzzles are going to be designed, so we should probably wait until we know more or, just maybe, wait until the game releases so we can see for ourselves.

Pikmin 1 was my first Pikmin game, but then I dropped it because I didn't like it and thought it was too hard. Later, Pikmin 4 got announced and I wanted to get back into it, so I got Pikmin 3 DX (because it was on sale). I beat it (it's considered the easiest of the series) and I loved it. I then got Pikmin 2 and beat that.

Pikmin 2 is overall much better than 1, but I will never get behind the trap mechanic. It's so annoying having a random rock slide kill 25 pikmin because of a laspe in concentration, or having to baby sit pikmin doing tasks in case of a random volatile dweevil. Not to mention the couple of times you have bulbear or wollywog traps.
Pikmin are both prey and predators. Also, in the real world, prey vastly outnumber predators, so even if bulborbs prey on pikmin, bulborbs aren't trying to extinct pikmin, that seems to be happening as a result of several factors. That's why you can see turtles riding alligators.
