Pollock or pollack [1] (pronounced / ˈpɒlək /) is the common name used for either of the two species of North Atlantic marine fish in the genus Pollachius.
The Pollock is a group of fish in the taxonomic genus Pollachius. The genus contains two species, P. pollachius and P. virens , both of which people refer to as “Pollock.” Researchers place these fish in the Gadidae family, along with cod, whiting , and haddock .
