The Department of Architecture that belongs to the Faculty of Science and Technology, University of Coimbra (DARQ) began in 1988. Among the other schools of architecture, the Department of Architecture also known as DARQ is distinguished by its moderate size, with about 500 students and 40 teachers, with the purpose of maintaining this size.
Master in Architecture. The Master of Architecture (FCTUC) aims to train responsible architects, capable of technical, artistic and civic viewpoints, able to perform architectural designs that take into account the individual needs, the country, each region, and environmentally sustainable development of cities and rural areas.

El patrimonio arquitectónico de la Universidad de Coímbra. La Universidad de Coímbra desarrolla su actividad educativa en varios espacios arquitectónicos. Entre ellos, merece la pena destacar los siguientes: 1. El Pazo Real. Es el edificio principal de la Universidad de Coímbra.
La Capilla de la Universidad de Coimbra - Capilla de San Miguel - se remonta al siglo 16, probablemente construido sobre una antigua capilla del siglo 12. Fue construido en estilo manuelino. El edificio que existe hoy en día es el resultado de trabajos dirigidos por Marcos Pires y terminados por Diogo de Castilho.
Este conjunto arquitectónico heterogéneo, en el que destacan las construcciones imponentes del Estado Novo y, sobre todo, el Paço das Escolas o Patio de la Universidad, es visitado anualmente por cerca de 200.000 turistas provenientes de las más diversas procedencias.
