Posteriormente se afirmó que fue el sustituto del cantante y compositor Paul MCCartney quien moriría en un accidente automovilístico. Suceso que ocurrió en noviembre de 1966.
William Campbell habría sido un bajista canadiense que habría vivido en Londres y habría tenido formación militar.
