William Dawbney Nordhaus ( Albuquerque, 31 de mayo de 1941) es un economista estadounidense. 1 El 8 de octubre de 2018 le fue otorgado, junto a Paul Romer, el Premio del Banco de Suecia en Ciencias Económicas en memoria de Alfred Nobel.
William Nordhaus was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He has been on the faculty of Yale University since 1967, has been Professor of Economics since 1973, and is also a Professor at the Yale School of the Environment.

Robert J. Nordhaus had joined the Tenth Mountain Division, troops on skis, and fought in the Italian campaign in World War II. When he returned to practice law in Albuquerque, he decided he needed to develop a ski area called La Madera (“the timber”) on the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque.
