OK, so I have a theory about the two films The Road to El Dorado/Atlantis: The Lost Empire. Made by two different companies, one being Dreamworks and the other Disney right? However, they both came out around the same time, and have very very similar animation styles.

Duuuude, I've just watched El Dorado three times in the past 3 days, but Atlantis is soooo good! The story of Atlantis is much better I think, but I love Tulio and Miguel so much. Too hard to choose for me... Goofyono. Stealth.
The Road to El Dorado (2000), Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) and Treasure Planet (2002) are a perfect "Trilogy" of great Adventure box-office flops. All three are animated movies focused on the protagonist (s) embarking on a great adventure and discovering some lost world.
Last year, two animated features sharing style and story points with Atlantis landed with much hype, but fizzled short of profitability. The first, DreamWorks’ The Road to El Dorado , followed a pair of brassy con men on their quest for ill-gotten gain.
