The Oberlin Conservatory of Music is a private music conservatory of Oberlin College, a private liberal arts college in Oberlin, Ohio. It was founded in 1865 and is the second oldest conservatory and oldest continually operating conservatory in the United States.
Oberlin’s Musical Studies major is designed for students in the Bachelor of Arts program with serious prior musical training. Students take courses in both the college and the conservatory to build foundations in music theory, musicianship skills, and music history.
In its six annual full-concert cycles, Oberlin’s Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME), directed by Professor of Conducting Timothy Weiss, performs music of all contemporary styles and genres: from minimalism to serialism, to electronic, cross genre, mixed media, and beyond.
