Das Schloss Bevern liegt in Bevern im Süden des Landkreises Holzminden in Niedersachsen. Der Schlossbau gehört zu den bedeutendsten Baudenkmälern der Weserrenaissance und wurde von 1603 bis 1612 durch Statius von Münchhausen an der Stelle eines alten Herrensitzes erbaut.
Bevern Castle is one of the most prestigious late Renaissance buildings in the valley of the River Weser. It was built in the years 1603-1612 as a symmetrical four-wing building with a square courtyard, essentially according to the plans of the proprietor, Statius von Münchhausen.
Bevern Castle is an architectural jewel that breathes the zeitgeist of the Renaissance: in summer, the ornamented facades of the inner courtyard serve as backdrop for the multimedia open-air production entitled “NÄCHTLICHES SCHLOSS – erleben” (“Experience the Night-time Castle”) which brings the chequered history of the castle to life.
