1st Lord Avondale. Father, died: 1548. ANDREW STEWART appears to have succeeded his elder brother in the Barony of Avondale in 1489, but in any case he was created LORD AVONDALE (S.) in that year. He fell at Flodden 1513, leaving three sons :-. (a) ANDREW, 1st Lord Ochiltree .

In 1543 he obtained an Act of Parliament to exchange his title for that of LORD STEWART OF OCHILTREE (S.), and died 1548. m Margaret Hamilton a daughter of James Hamilton, 1st Earl of Arran.
