Life. Anna was the eldest child of the Count Palatine Rupert of Veldenz (1506–1544) from his marriage to Ursula (1515–1601), daughter of Wild- and Rhinegrave John VII of Salm-Kyrburg. She married Charles II, Margrave of Baden-Durlach on the first of August 1558 in Heidelberg; it was his second marriage.

Dorothea von Pfalz-Simmern was born 6 January 1581 to Johann Kasimir von Pfalz-Simmern (1543-1592) and Elisabeth von Sachsen (1552-1590) and died 18 September 1631 of unspecified causes. She married Johann Georg I. von Anhalt-Dessau (1567-1618) 21 February 1595 .

Duchess Elisabeth and her children fled to Eisenach and then to her sister Dorothea Susanne of Simmern, who was married to her husband's brother, Duke John William of Saxe-Weimar.
