Princess Marie Amelie of Baden (Marie Amelie Elisabeth Caroline; 11 October 1817 – 17 October 1888) was the youngest daughter of Charles, Grand Duke of Baden and Stéphanie de Beauharnais. In 1843, she married the Scottish nobleman William Hamilton, Marquess of Douglas and Clydesdale.
This is a copy by William Corden (1819-1900) of the portrait of the Princess by Albert Graefle and it was painted for Queen Victoria at the time of the Princesss marriage. Family. She was the only daughter and elder child of Prince Maximilian of Baden (1867–1929) and Princess Marie Louise of Hanover and Cumberland.Her paternal grandparents were Prince Wilhelm of Baden (1829–97) and Princess Maria of Leuchtenberg (1841–1914), a daughter of Maximilian, Duke of Leuchtenberg (1817–52) and Grand Duchess Maria Nikolaevna (1819–1876).
