Meinhard von Gorizia VI Count of Gorizia was born in 1317, in Görz und Gradisca, Austria as the son of Albert II of Gorizia and Euphemia of Mätsch. He married Catherine von Pfannberg on 26 November 1347. They were the parents of at least 4 daughters. He died on 6 May 1385, in his hometown, at the age of 68.

Catherine of Gorizia (d. 1391) was the daughter of Meinhard VI, Count of Gorizia, and his first wife Catherine of Puffanberg. In 1372 she married John II, Duke of Bavaria and Munich. They had her three children.
