  3. William Henry Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, 6th Duke of Buccleuch & 8th Duke of Queensberry KG KT PC JP DL (9 September 1831 – 5 November 1914) was a Scottish Member of Parliament and peer. He was the paternal grandfather of HRH Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester, and the maternal great-grandfather of HRH Prince William of Gloucester and HRH Prince Richard, Duke of Gloucester.

Son of Walter Francis, 5th Earl; MP for Midlothian 1853-68 and 1874-80; married 1859 Lady Lousia Jane Hamilton (d.1912), daughter of the 1st Duke of Abercorn; title passed to his second eldest son John Charles (1864-1935), his first son Walter Henry, Earl of Dalkeith, having been killed while deer stalking in 1886.
