Biografía de Leonor de Castilla y de Danmartín. Esta Infanta de Castilla, fue la segunda de los tres hijos que nacieron del segundo matrimonio de Fernando III, apodado el Santo con la condesa de Ponthieu, Juana de Danmartín y quien se desconoce con exactitud el lugar de su nacimiento en 1241 y fallecida en Nottingham el 29 de noviembre de 1290.
La devoción entre ambos esposos debió ser mayor que la de ambos hacia sus hijos; que de hecho, fueron criados por sus abuelas, Leonor de Provenza y Juana de Danmartín. La muerte de su quinto hijo y segundo varón, Enrique de seis años, en 1274 en Guilford no fue ni siquiera dolorosa para sus padres, que no asistieron a sus funerales, pese al corto camino que había entre Londres y Guilford.
