When Princess Marjorie Bruce of Scotland was born on 12 December 1296, in Cardross, Dunbartonshire, Scotland, United Kingdom, her father, King Robert Bruce I of Scotland, was 22 and her mother, Isabella of Mar, was 21. She married Walter Stewart VI High Steward of Scotland in 1315, in Dundonald, Ayrshire, Scotland.
This last-named Marjorie had been the second of the three daughters of Walter, 3rd High Steward. Part of the wedding dowry which Marjorie Bruce brought to her husband was the castle and Barony of Bathgate in Midlothian, which it was intended would become their private family residence; but this was not to be.
