Königin Sophie Magdalene, Porträt von Johann Salomon du Wahl. Sophie Magdalene von Brandenburg-Kulmbach (* 28. November 1700 in Schönberg bei Lauf; † 27. Mai 1770 auf Schloss Christiansborg in Kopenhagen) war eine hohenzollernsche Prinzessin und von 1730 bis 1746 Königin von Dänemark .
Magdalene Sibylle was born in Königsberg, the daughter of Albert Frederick, Duke of Prussia and Marie Eleonore of Cleves. She married John George on 19 July 1607 in Torgau . Magdalene Sibylle was a friend of the Swedish queen Maria Eleonora of Brandenburg, her niece, and was interested in painting, poetry and gardening.
Born at the New Palace in Gießen, Elisabeth Amalie was the daughter of George II, Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Sophia Eleonore of Saxony. Her siblings included Louis of Hesse-Darmstadt, future Landgrave of Hesse-Darmstadt and Anna Sophia, Abbess of Quedlinburg . Elisabeth Amalie was brought up strictly by her mother, who was a devout Lutheran.

In 1559 he married Elizabeth Magdalene of Brandenburg, daughter of Joachim II Hector of Brandenburg and Hedwig of Poland, but he died in the same year of smallpox. The marriage was childless.
