Malmesbury is one of the oldest boroughs in England and boasts striking medieval architecture. The remarkable 12 th century abbey is one of the key landmarks. Only the nave of the Norman abbey remains, the great spire and the tower both fell in the 15 th and 16 th centuries respectively. Nevertheless, the abbey is impressive.
