3 de dic. de 2015 · In his will Lord Randolph left Jennie a small cash legacy of £500 and settled the rest of his estate into a trust, to be known for many decades thereafter as Lord Randolph Churchill’s Will Trust. The trust started with capital of just over £50,000, effectively all provided by the sale of the Rand Mines shares.
Lord Randolph Churchill met his future wife, Miss Jennie (Jeannette) Jerome, on Thursday, August 12, 1873. They were both attending a sailing regatta on the Isle of Wight and were introduced at a reception hosted by the Prince of Wales, the future King Edward VII. Randolph wrote this letter just two days later.

Lord Randolph Churchill's political career was meteoric. In 1886, at age thirty-seven, he was Chancellor of the Exchequer, the youngest to hold the office in over a hundred years. In less than six months, he resigned from the Cabinet over a matter of principle - his insistence on reducing defense spending. He never held high office again.
He was born at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, England, as the elder son of Lord and Lady Randolph Churchill. He attended Harrow School and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst . After joining the British Army in 1895, he saw action in British India , the Anglo-Sudan War , and the Second Boer War , gaining fame as a war correspondent and by writing books about his campaigns.
