Handel - Chandos Anthems, Vol.1 - International Record Review > See recording details... The disc’s cover bears no claim to being the first instalment of a complete recording of the anthems Handel composed in 1717 and 1718 for James Brydges, then known as the fabulously rich Earl of Carnarvon but remembered by posterity as the profligate first Duke of Chandos.
In 2004 she was a finalist in the BBC Young Chorister of the Year competition. She came up to Cambridge in 2006 and graduated with a BA in Music from Trinity College in 2009. As a member of Trinity College Choir, she enjoyed a busy schedule of concerts and recordings and toured to Canada, Europe and California.
This wonderful performance made all the elements come to life in the most vivid way. Packed tight on the stage of St John’s Smith Square were a lavish band of 28 players, a choir of around 40, and the four soloists. This was not going to be one of those small-scale Bach performances we’re told are more “authentic”. It was lavishly festive.
While completing a Masters in Choral Conducting at Jesus College, Cambridge, she sang with Trinity College Choir under Stephen Layton. Fiona now appears regularly with some of the UK’s finest vocal ensembles including Tenebrae, Alamire, Siglo de Oro,The Erebus Ensemble and Apollo Voices Film Choir.
The Trinity Singers are TCMS’ non-audition choir, and are one of Cambridge’s finest non-audition ensembles with around 70 members. We are open to everyone, whether from the University or not. We would be delighted to see you at any of our rehearsals, which take place in Trinity College on Thursday evenings from 7.45-9.30pm during term-time.
