Since its opening, the Distribution Center of Castel San Giovanni has created over 1,600 permanent jobs and it is still booming. The Castel San Giovanni fulfillment center, Amazon’s first logistics site in Italy, opened in 2011. In November 2015 Amazon opened its 1,500 sqm Urban Fulfillment in Milan to serve Amazon Prime Now customers.
Its location, on a rocky spur hanging over the waters of Lake Idro, suggests that the castrum can be identified precisely with San Giovanni Castle. As with other castles of the Chiese Valley run by the Lodrons, the military aspect clearly prevails on the residential one.
