The World Fair Trade Organization ( WFTO) is the global community and verifier of enterprises that fully practice Fair Trade. It is an association of SMEs, farmers or retailers that fully practice the 10 Principles of Fair Trade. They also advocate for fundamental change in our current economic system.

Verdens handelsorganisasjon (engelsk World Trade Organization, WTO) ble etablert 1995 etter en revisjon av Generalavtalen om tolltariffer og handel (GATT). I tillegg til GATT-avtalen, som regulerer varehandel, administrerer organisasjonen GATS (General Agreement on Trade in Services), reglene for tjenesteytelser, som for eksempel telekommunikasjon, konsulent- og bankvirksomhet, over landegrensene.
